Role Description

The Department of Electrical Engineering at TUT is seeking five (5) part-time lecturers to teach a variety of engineering subjects, including Engineering Graphics, Digital Systems, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, and Electronics. Critical Performance Areas

1. Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures and tutorials for subjects including Engineering Graphics, Digital Systems, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, and Electronics.
  • Develop and set assessments, including examinations, and be responsible for grading scripts.
  • Continuously update and maintain teaching materials and subject files for each course taught.
  • Prepare and supervise practical activities and individual student projects.

2. Administrative Duties

  • Manage administrative tasks related to the courses, such as uploading study guides and lecturer materials on MyTUTor and submitting assessment marks on ITS.
  • Ensure that all assignments and exams follow the correct structure and deadlines.
  • Use TUT4Life email for communication, and ensure students are reminded to activate their TUT4Life email accounts.
  • Post announcements for each subject on MyTUTor, ensuring that all relevant communications are made formally and in advance.
  • Send reminders to students regarding assignment deadlines, tests, and project submission dates, ensuring timely notifications are provided at least three days in advance.

3. Enhancing Quality of Education

  • Apply the faculty’s teaching and learning strategy with proven results in enhancing student learning.
  • Ensure that students are fully engaged with the teaching process, contributing to the goal of providing a quality educational experience using modern technology.
  • Support students in their educational journey, helping them navigate challenges and motivating them to perform at their best.

  • A relevant master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MEng, MTech, MScEng) at NQF Level 9.

  • Previous experience in teaching subjects such as Engineering Graphics, Digital Systems, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, and Electronics will be highly beneficial.
