Responsibilities and Duties

TUT is looking to hire part-time lecturers for several courses in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering. The roles involve the delivery of academic instruction, evaluation of students, and involvement in various administrative tasks. The successful candidates will be responsible for:

1. Lecturing the Assigned Courses:
   • Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics (CH1216B)
   • Chemical Engineering Design I – Equipment (CEE317B)
   • Material Science (MSC115B)
   • Engineering Graphics (EGH105B) – Year Module
   • Chemical Process Industries II (CAL216P) for BSc Industrial Chemistry
2. Academic Responsibilities:
   • Preparing, setting, and conducting lectures.
   • Managing assessments, including tests and assignments, and providing timely feedback.
   • Participating in departmental meetings and contributing to the development of curriculum and course materials.
   • Engaging in research, innovation, and community involvement.
3. Student Interaction:
   • Regularly meeting with students to address queries, provide academic support, and guide learning processes.
   • Continuous student evaluation, including grading and uploading documents on the learning management system.
4. Administrative Duties:
   • Managing student records, entering marks into the system, and maintaining subject files.
   • Adhering to academic guidelines for reporting and documenting grades.
   • Carrying out other administrative tasks as required by the department.
5. Industry and Community Engagement:
   • Foster relationships with industry partners to enhance the relevance and quality of academic content.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following academic and professional criteria to be considered for the position:

• For BEng Tech Chemical Engineering and BSc Industrial Chemistry Modules:
  • A MEng, MSc, or MTech qualification in Chemical Engineering.
• For Engineering Graphics Module:
  • A MEng, MSc, or MTech qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level, or 3 years’ industry experience in a related field.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of Engineering curricula and assessment practices, with a particular focus on Chemical Engineering. In addition, candidates should demonstrate:

• Expertise in BEng Tech-Chemical Engineering curriculum and assessment processes.
